Math 115

MA 115 PROBLEM SET

COURSE INFORMATION:

Precalculus Algebra and Trigonometry — 3 hrs

Prerequisite: UA Mathematics Placement Exam score of 380-439 and a strong background in college preparatory math to include one-half unit of trigonometry or a grade of "A +" in Math 100.

Degree credit will not be granted for both Math 115 and Math 112 or for both Math 115 and Math 113.

Description: Properties and graphs of exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities, polynomial and rational functions, binomial theorem, quadratic inequalities, systems of equations and inequalities, inverse trigonometric functions, vectors, complex numbers, polar coordinates, De Moivre's Theorem.

Format: Math 115 is offered as a standard lecture course.

Who should take this course? This fast-paced course is for students with strong math skills. The standard preparation for Analytical Calculus (Math 125) is Precalculus Algebra (Math 112) and Precalculus Trigonometry (Math 113). Math 115 is an extremely rigorous course which covers the material from both Precalculus Algebra and Precalculus Trigonometry in one semester. Only students with appropriate experience and background in mathematics should enroll in this course. Math 115 is designed to prepare students for calculus and is not recommended for students whose majors do not require analytical calculus.
