Math 112

MA 112 PROBLEM SET

COURSE INFORMATION:

Precalculus Algebra — 3 hrs

Prerequisite: Either UA Mathematics Placement Exam score of 310-439 and 3 units of college preparatory math, transfer credit equivalent to Math 100, or a grade of "C" or higher in Math 100.

Course Description and Objectives: This is a course in Precalculus mathematics. The course is computer-assisted, which means students will use the computer (along with the instructor) to complete the course. Topics include linear, quadratic, and rational equations with inequalities, the algebra of functions (including polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions), the graphs of these functions, and systems of equations. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to perform operations on polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions. The student will also be able to graph these functions using techniques and information gathered about the functions, solve linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, and absolute value equations, and solve systems of equations. Evaluation will be based on quizzes, tests, and attendance.

Format: Math 112 is computer-assisted, which means students will use the computer (along with the instructor) to complete the course.

Who should take this course? This course is for students with strong algebra skills and for students who need calculus for their major.
