Math 100

MA 100 PROBLEM SET

COURSE INFORMATION:

Intermediate Algebra — 3 hrs (no degree credit awarded)

Prerequisite: Either UA Mathematics Placement Exam score of 190-309 and 2 units of college preparatory math, transfer credit equivalent to Math 005, or a grade of "C" or higher in Math 005.

Course Description and Objectives: Math 100 is an intermediate level algebra course. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to perform operations with exponents, radicals, and algebraic expressions; factor polynomials; solve linear, absolute value, quadratic, fractional, and radical equations; solve linear equations; graph linear equations. The solving of verbal problems is stressed.

Course format: MA 100 is computer-assisted, which means students will use the computer (along with the instructor) to complete the course.

Who should take this course? Math 100 is an appropriate course for students with limited experience in studying mathematical concepts. Students take this course in order to prepare for either Pre-calculus Algebra (Math 112) or Finite Mathematics (Math 110).
